What is a refurbished/demo machine?
These machines have been returned to Saeco from the retailer. Each machine has been thoroughly examined by a team of highly trained Saeco technicians. These machines are inspected and put through rigorous testing to ensure that they are in perfect working condition. Once the testing is completed each machine is cleaned and packed with all the necessary accessories to ensure its proper use.
What maintenance is required?
The maintenance is easy and fast. The three most important steps are:
Decalcifying - to remove the mineral build up that accumulates in the boiler.
Brew group cleaning and maintenance - this is the brewing unit where your coffee is tamped and brewed.
Grinder cleaning and resetting - approx. once every 6 months you will need to clean and reset the burrs, especially if you are using oilier espresso bean.
How do I decalcify my machine?
Although there are many acceptable brands of descaler on the market, we only recommend our brand. It is proven to be strong enough to remove the build up, but soft enough not to damage your machine. DO NOT use vinegar, pure lemon juice, or other harmful abrasives - they will dry up the o-rings inside the boiler and damage the machine.
How often should I descale my machine?
Descaling is as important as changing the oil in your car every 3,000 miles. It is a process that eliminates mineral build up inside your boiler and ensures the longevity of the appliance.
For normal household use we recommend at least once every 2-3 months. It will depend on the type of water you use and how many cups you brew. Using filtered or bottled water does not reduce the need to descale your machine. All our digital super automatic automatic machines allow you to program the water hardness so that the machine informs you automatically when it needs to be descaled.
What is the lifespan of a Saeco unit?
Your machine will give you many years of great service if you keep the machine clean, use good quality products and carry out the necessary maintenance. Very high quality standards and patented innovative technology has made Saeco a world leader in the field of superautomatic machines for over a decade.
Pannarello leaking
The pannarello consists of five pieces. The knurled nut to tighten it to the Steam wand, then a soft rubber grommet (smaller part), under that a hard plastic bushing (larger part), the inner sleeve, and the outer sleeve. When you tighten the nut, it compresses the soft rubber grommet. This compression is what holds the pannarello onto the wand. If you do not hold the INNER sleeve from spinning while you tighten the nut, you may not squish the rubber enough, because the whole thing may just be spinning around the wand. So, please remove the outer sleeve, hold the inner sleeve still, and tighten the nut a little more. If it continues to leak or blow off the steam wand, you may be missing one of the grommets or you may have them reversed. We do not recommend removing the entire pannarello for cleaning. Only remove the outer sleeve and run some water through the steam wand, as if you were going to froth water. Then wipe with a damp cloth. This prevents the loss or removal of either grommet. That should solve your problem.
Brew Group Maintenance
Lubricate your brew group after approximately 500 brewing cycles. The grease for the brew group can be ordered here. Wash and dry the brew group and the filter inside it. Lubricate the brew group evenly on both guides. This allows the brew group to compress more freely.
